Green Turtle Introduces Microceptor™ Under-Sink Coffee Grounds Trap

Green Turtle introduced the MicroceptorTM at the ASPE Convention and Engineered Plumbing Exposition in Philadelphia. This product was developed with the goal eliminating on-going plumbing costs associated with coffee service sink operations.

 

The process of making coffee certainly appears to be benign enough. That is, until one realizes how many hundreds of pounds per day of ground coffee is processed to keep up with customer demand at a typical shop. Coffee service is big business. The amount of coffee made every day at a typical coffee shop boggles the mind. We are hooked!

 

Green Turtle developed the Microceptor as a result of a request from one of North America's largest purveyors of coffee. They realized there is a significant amount of profit that goes down the drain every time a plumber is called to unplug pipes clogged with spent coffee grounds.

 

The Microceptor is a compact polymer cartridge system that installs directly under the coffee service sink. It is a flow-though system that has an internal filter to capture the spent coffee grounds and keep them from entering the pipes.

 

The design incorporates two modes of cleaning; on-line in-service mode and off-line take-down mode. For in-service mode, provision is made to flush the system out on the fly so business flow is not interrupted. In take-down mode, the system can be taken apart for more thorough cleaning at the end of a shift or at the end of the day.
